Golden King Port Orford Cedar - The Guardian(TM) Series

Robust growing evergreen is rounded when young, becoming pyramidal with age. Spreading branches hang downward. Broad fan-shaped branchlets hold beautiful golden-yellow foliage, yellow-green with age. This new Chamaecyparis lawsoniana variety is grown on a root stock that is resistant to Phytophthora lateralis - a disease that has caused the demise of many lawsoniana's over the last two decades. This rootstock was developed by Oregon State University and is marketed under The Guardian" Series. We are utilizing this new rootstock on several varieties: 'Blue Surprise', 'Golden King', 'Silberstar', and 'Yvonne'.

Follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Watering can be reduced after establishment. Feed with a general purpose fertilizer before new growth begins in spring.
