Rudbeckia ‘Indian Summer’
Often referred to as Black-eyed Susans or Gloriosa Daisies, these tender perennials produce large golden-yellow blooms that sit atop stems that are well-branched rather than long and straight. The flowers are fuller than other Black-eyed Susans with wide petals and chocolate black centers. At maturity, the plants can reach a height of 36 to 42 inches. The original plants are relatively short-lived but the plants self-seed readily. Plant in full sun to partial shade. Rudbeckia will tolerate clay soil and are said to be rabbit resistant. They look beautiful in mixed borders or when planted in masses. Flowers attract butterflies and are great for cutting.
