Shrubs have a variety of uses depending on their size. Small shrubs are perfect to establish design lines in formal gardens and for edging walks and plant beds. Shrubs in the medium size range are most useful for hedges, screening and background for large scale foundation plantings.

Yuletide Camellia Camellia sasanqua 'Yuletide'	Type: Evergreen Environment: Partial Sun (Morning Sun) Plant Height: 8' to 10' tall and wide Spacing: 5' to 7' on center Growing Pattern: Slow growth rate Leaf: Shiny, rich dark green Flower/Fruit: Brilliant, fiery red blooms centered with bright yellow stamens. Look for bloom December into January.


Flowering Quince Chaenomeles speciosa Flower color ranges from shades of white and pink to scarlet and red. Plant is very showing in bloom with edible fruit.	Type: Deciduous Environment: Full Sun / Partial Shade Plant Height: 6' to 10' tall with equal or greater spread Spacing: 4' to 6' on center Growing Pattern: Medium growth rate Leaf: Glossy dark green Flower/Fruit: Shades of white and pink to red. Blooms in Feb. and Mar. Edible fruit.


Fragrant Wintersweet Chimonanthus praecox	Type: Deciduous Environment: Full Sun / Partial Shade Plant Height: 10' to 15' tall and 8' to 12' wide Spacing: 5' to 7' on center Growing Pattern: Slow growth rate Leaf: Lustrous dark green Flower/Fruit: Very fragrant flowers are transparent yellow and relatively small. Blooms from December into February.


Scotch Broom Cytisus scoparius Bright yellow flowers are a real attention grabber in full bloom. Scotch Broom prefers sandy, dry, infertile soil. In winter, green twigs create interest. Redvein Enkianthus Enkianthus Campanulatus Plant will show drought stress if not given adequate moisture. Pendulous flowers are creamy yellow or light orange veined with red.
