Freeze Your Basil Before it Freezes
The temperatures are dipping into the thirties, if we don't have a night of freezing temperatures tonight, there is a chance that we will have one soon. The freeze will kill any basil that you may have left in your garden. If you don't want it to go to waste and still want to use it, freeze it.
The easiest ways to freeze fresh basil is to chop it and put it in ice cube trays. Fill the trays with water and place in the freezer and you're done.
When you're ready to use the basil drop the frozen cubes in a strainer and let it thaw. Or pop the basil cubes directly in sauces to thaw while cooking.
