- Job Title: Buyers Assistant
- Status: Full Time/ Hourly
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week. Some flexibility with hours.
- This position is remote but requires the individual to work from our Support Center office in Duluth, GA one day per week and be available to visit Pike Nurseries retail locations as needed.

The Buyers Assistant aids in keeping the stores
stocked with the right inventory at the right time by keeping the vendor and
data base updated, generating timely orders, and uploading po's to ensure
seamless store receiving. Keeps all
information accurate and up to date and usable.
Must have quick, precise
typing skills, an analytical approach to problem solving, and be detail
oriented.
Duties and Responsibilities
Database and Vendor Maintenance
-
· Reformat and consolidate supplier availability into one clear and actionable order form for retail stores.
· Run product and category performance reports to support purchasing decisions.
· Update and maintain database with all saleable products into the Epicor/Eagle system.
· Fact-check and create SKU numbers for each new or existing product.
· Coordinate with the Tree & Shrub Buyer to resolve questions or incomplete information.
· Notify stores of pertinent updates including additions or deletions to data files and vendor delivery schedules.
· Maintain accurate data files, including periodic cleanup of obsolete information and retail price changes.
· Upload Promotions into Epicor/Eagle System.
· Search for and communicate the status of special requests as needed.
· Track progress of discontinued or close-out promotions.
· Upload purchase orders as required.
· Assist with receiving adjustments and work with Accounting to resolve product-related payment issues when needed.
· Assist with product data for inclusion on ecommerce.
· Ability to visit Pike Nurseries retail stores as needed to support buying initiatives.
· Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Tree & Shrub Buyer and department operations.
Order Generation, Inventory Maintenance and Promotions
- Sends out Carry-Over list and price
changes to the stores via Weekly Messages/Daily Messages.
- Uploads promotions and store
requests to database as needed.
- Tracks progress of
discontinued/close-out promotions.
- Compiles and sends availability list
and product orders on a weekly basis.
- Uploads product Purchase Orders
weekly or as needed.
- Run on-hands/sales for ancillary
product categories & create suggested orders/solicits - send P.O. to
vendors.
- Maintain EDI & correct errors as
they arise.
- Handles receiving adjustments as
needed.
- Helps to resolve product late
payment issues as needed.
Insurance and Safety Compliance
- Compiles and updates Certificates of
Insurance.
- Updates Safety Data Sheets (SDS) as
needed, adding the information to Pike's database and creating SDS books
for the stores every two years.
- Confers
with supervisor(s) regarding incomplete information or when questions
arise.
- Checks
completed work for accuracy and makes any required changes
immediately.
Liaison between the buying team and the website team
- Works with
buyers to get all products loaded for the websites
- Works with
website team on making sure that all product have all data and are
displaying properly on the website
- Partners with our suppliers to help
them get us their data attributes needed for the websites
- Reviews the site for accuracy and
product placement
Skills, Abilities and Qualifications

· Intermediate to advanced Excel skills are required.
· Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
· Proficient and accurate in data entry with strong keyboard skills.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Familiarity with EPICOR POS system is a plus.
· Working knowledge of trees and shrubs, including basic plant identification and botanical names is a plus.
Education and Experience

Has high school diploma or equivalent
Formal computer training an advantage
