Job Summary
The Construction Assistant will perform general maintenance and repairs
for assigned equipment and facilities including greenhouse plumbing,
electrical, basic carpentry, heating, and other building systems.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Inspects and identifies greenhouses for need repair.
Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
Install and fix irrigation.
Cleans and assists with the upkeep of the facilities.
Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing plastic, repairing doors, and other building fixtures.
Troubleshoot issues to determine necessary repairs.
Other Skills, Abilities, & Qualifications
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
- Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
- Excellent
organizational and time management skills.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Related experience
preferred.

Safety First!
Majority of work is done outdoors during high or low temperatures depending on the time of year. Requires extensive use of back, legs, knees, arms, feet and hands for lifting, stooping, squatting, bending, twisting, kneeling, pulling, pushing, reaching overhead, and walking. Unassisted lifting limits up to 50 lbs. Individuals may be required to do any or all of these situations throughout the work day, with an emphasis on walking and standing for a major portion of the day. The outside environment will comprise most of the day with some inside building activity.
