Summary of Duties and
Responsibilities
The Operations Associate is responsible
for receiving, moving, displaying, maintaining, and loading merchandise while
helping maintain a clean, safe, and organized garden center. This position
plays an important role in the customer experience by ensuring merchandise is
properly handled and available to customers and by providing friendly, timely
assistance when loading customer vehicles. The Operations Associate helps
create a positive final impression by ensuring customers are safely and
efficiently assisted as they leave the store.
Education, Prior Work Experience, and Specialized Skills and Knowledge
Personable, outgoing, enthusiastic, self-motivated individual, charismatic are the skills needed to be successful at this position
- One or more years of related work experience preferred.
- Previous garden center, retail,
warehouse, loading, or material-handling experience preferred.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Make customer
service the #1 priority by providing friendly, helpful, and timely
assistance to customers.
- Receive,
unload, move, and place incoming merchandise according to management
direction and established procedures.
- Provide timely
and courteous loading assistance, including safely moving customer
purchases and loading plants and merchandise into customer vehicles.
- Maintain
merchandise for customer appeal, including watering, cleaning,
straightening, displaying, and restocking as needed.
- Maintain clean,
organized, and safe garden center, loading, and work areas.
- Maintain
accurate store signage and displays as directed.
- Complete and
maintain the Daily Forklift Checklist and follow all equipment and safety
procedures (must be 18 years or older).
- Work
cooperatively with other associates and departments to support store
operations and customer service.
- Attend required
store meetings and training.
- Follow all
company policies and safety procedures.
- Perform other
duties and responsibilities as assigned.

safely lift 25 pounds regularly and up to 50-100 pounds occasionally, with
assistance or proper equipment when appropriate.
- Ability to
stand and walk for extended periods of time, primarily on concrete and
other hard surfaces.
- Ability to
frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and move merchandise.
- Ability to
safely assist with loading customer vehicles and moving merchandise
throughout the garden center.
- Ability to work
outdoors and in varying weather conditions.

Physical Environment/Working Conditions
This position requires some physical activity such as lifting, squatting, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling and walking. Unassisted lifting limits between 30 and 50 lbs. Individuals may be required to do any or all of these situations throughout the work day, with an emphasis on walking and standing for a major portion of the day. The outside environment will comprise most of the day with some inside building activity.
