Sales Associate

The Sales Associate is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and creating a positive shopping experience for every customer. This position requires frequent customer interaction, strong communication skills, knowledge of Pike merchandise, and the ability to assist customers with their gardening and plant needs.

• One or more years of retail, sales, customer service, or garden center/industry experience preferred.
• GA/NC State Certified preferred.

1. Make customer service the #1 priority by providing friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable service to every customer.
2. Proactively approach and engage customers, listen to their needs, and provide recommendations based on their questions, projects, and gardening needs.
3. Develop and maintain knowledge of Pike merchandise, including plants, gardening products, and related merchandise.
4. Assist customers with locating, selecting, handling, and loading merchandise into their vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
5. Assist with front-end activities, including gathering and staging customer purchases, moving merchandise to the loading area, and assisting with customer vehicle loading.
6. Ensure customer questions and concerns are addressed and make every effort to meet or exceed customer expectations.
7. Recommend additional products when appropriate to meet customer needs and maximize the sales opportunity.
8. Assist with general garden center duties, including restocking, straightening merchandise, maintaining displays, and keeping the sales area clean and organized.
9. Operate the cash register and assist with checkout when needed.
10. Work cooperatively with other associates and departments to provide a positive customer experience.
11. Attend monthly mandatory store meetings and required training.
12. Follow all company policies and safety procedures.
13. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and move merchandise.
• Ability to safely maneuver carts and merchandise throughout the garden center and front-end loading area.
• Ability to work outdoors and perform job duties in varying weather conditions.
